Eckington Community Meeting With DASH Tonight 7/1/12

Dear Community Members:
In the wake of the recent random act of violence perpetrated against our neighbors, the District Alliance for Safe Housing (DASH) is hosting a meeting to provide an update on the status of the investigation, as well as answer any questions and concerns from the community.  The meeting will be onWednesday, August 1, 2012 at 7 PM.  We will also be joined by Capt. Wilfredo Manlapaz and Lt. RonWright from the 5th District MPD, along with a representative from the MPD's Gay Lesbian Liaison unit, and ANC Commissioner Tim Clark.

DASH's mission is to provide access to safe housing and services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their families in DC as they rebuild their lives on their own terms. In addition to our longstanding work against violence, we are also members of this community, and this neighborhood.  That's why this crime is particularly alarming to us.  And it's why we are committed to offering support, guidance and resources to assist our community in responding to this violence.

For the exact address, please RSVP to info@... or call at 202-462-3274 ext.122 to rsvp (leave a message and someone will return your call).  RSVPs are required because space is limited and the DASH facility is a high security building.  All community members are welcome.

Hello Neighbors,

Consider these benefits of walking as a group:

  • Exercise for an hour!
  • Explore different areas of Eckington

Tomorrow, we'll walk around the following areas:

S and Seaton near 2nd and 3rd street, and  W St. between 3rd and 4th!

I know that as a result of the walks, I've met new friends and know the officers by name!

Tell your neighbors, bring a friend!  Kids and pets are welcome too!

Thanks!

R Street Bike Lane Meeting Today 3/5/12 200 Block of R Street NE

Residents,

Early last week DDOT began the planned installation of the R Street sharrow and contra flow bike lane. The majority of the sharrow markings have been installed from R & Florida Ave NW heading East towards the MBT. The contra flow portion has been momentarily put on hold because of residents in opposition of their cars being bumped out to accommodate the lane. DDOT will be holding a meeting this afternoon to discuss the lane, truck traffic issues and the loss of two parking spaces needed for the P6 bus stop. The meeting will be on the 200 block of R Street NE at 2:30pm today. Let me know if you have any questions.
