Dear Community Members:
In the wake of the recent random act of violence perpetrated
against our neighbors, the District Alliance for Safe Housing (DASH) is hosting
a meeting to provide an update on the status of the investigation, as well as
answer any questions and concerns from the community. The meeting will be
onWednesday, August 1, 2012 at 7 PM. We will also be joined
by Capt. Wilfredo Manlapaz and Lt. RonWright from the 5th District MPD,
along with a representative from the MPD's Gay Lesbian Liaison unit, and ANC
Commissioner Tim Clark.
DASH's mission is to provide access to safe housing and services
for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their families in DC as they
rebuild their lives on their own terms. In addition to our longstanding work
against violence, we are also members of this community, and this
neighborhood. That's why this crime is particularly alarming to us.
And it's why we are committed to offering support, guidance and resources to
assist our community in responding to this violence.
