Adult Bus Tokens Will No Longer Be Sold.

After February 28, 2011, adult bus tokens will no longer be sold.
Adult bus tokens are being phased out to modernize and streamline the fare payment system for Metrobus.

Bus tokens will continue to be accepted on Metrobus (and other regional buses), so you can use the ones you already have.

Student bus tokens will still be sold.

After January 31, 2011, MetroAccess will stop accepting bus tokens and paper farecards.

A SmarTrip® card is even more convenient than a bus token!

It’s Metro’s permanent, reusable plastic farecard. It costs just $5, but it saves you money every time you use it. That’s because you pay 20¢ less per ride AND you take advantage of transfer discounts that you can’t get paying with cash. They’re sold at all CVS/pharmacy locations and select Safeway and Giant stores. Or to find other sales outlets including transit stores, visit MetroOpensDoors.com or call 202-637-7000.
